Support » Plugin: Ajax Search for WooCommerce » Suggestions wrapper div position change

first of all, a great plugin which I was happy to team up with my themes.
    But …
Why, oh why did you moved the ‘dgwt-wcas-suggestions-wrapp‘ div to body tag with fixed position, in version 1.2.0?? 🙁
It was working perfectly with the position absolute inside the ‘dgwt-wcas-search-wrapp’ div … Now I cannot make it work with my theme (not without heavy reworking), so I’ll probably have to abandon the plugin 🙁

If you would consider an opt-in (perhaps in some “Dev” tab or code hook) to revert the suggestion wrapper div to a position where it was before, that would be great.

    Any thoughts on that? 🙂

    Apologies for the delayed response.

Unfortunately, it was necessary because of popular page builders.
Users reported a lot of issues related to covering the suggestions by other HTML sections. I’ve manually fixed dozens of such cases. The problem was with properties “z-index” and “overflow”.

I decided to move suggestions div to body tag. Now I do not have to worry about conflicts with popular theme from Themeforest and popular page builders.

The similar plugins to mine have also a div with suggestions directly in body tag.

Unfortunately, I do not plan support old div position in the future. At this moment you can use version switcher. I created this tool to help developeres switching between versions and testing the form appearance. See this screenshot.

I wish you all the best and if you have any questions, do not hesitate to get in touch.

Yeah, well … Obviously, one solution cannot fit all. 🙂
I’m the Theme forest author, and this update has messed up my theme. So, most probably, I’ll remove the plugin from theme recommendations, and also remove special ways that search was integrated with my theme(s) 🙁
I understand your reasons, it just don’t apply in my case.

One thing, though – I noticed the “backward-compatibility” folder. Is there a way to fallback to that, using some hook or function?

    Nevertheless, great work!
    Best regards
