Support » Plugin: Cookie Notice & Compliance for GDPR / CCPA » Suggestion: No reload after refusing cookies

  • I’d like to set up Cookie Notice so that…
    1) the page is reloaded after the user has clicked the “accept” button, so it loads again, only this time with cookie scripts included.
    2) nothing happens, if the user clicks the “refuse” button; the cookie notice just disappears.

    1) works fine. However, the page is also reloaded when the user refuses. This is unnecessary and could be changed quite simply by altering line 127 in front.js from

    if ( cookie_value && ...

    to

    if ( cookie_value === 'true' && ...

    Would be cool if this could be implemented.

    =====

    On second thought, if one changes it this way, then the revoke-cookies process would need to be altered, too: If the visitor wants to manually revoke cookies some time later, the reload needs to happen when clicking the refuse button, while nothing should happen when he decides to continue accepting.

    I guess, what I was trying to say yesterday was:

    • If acceptance status has changed: reload the page.
    • If acceptance status has not changed: do nothing.

    But hey, why put it simply, if you can make it complicated. 😉
