Suggestion: LOVE THE THEME, but bootstrap.min.css could be optimized (6 posts)

    Hey guys,

I love this theme. It's simple and clean. It's exactly what I need. BUT. I noticed that bootstrap.min.css comes in at about 121kb, and I think with every feature enabled you only need ~16kb of that 121kb CSS.

I ran Grunt-Uncss over my WordPress site using Sparkling and got it down to ~12k (Not using the slider). Here is a link to my site: http://willrees.com and here is a link to the css file: http://willrees.com/wp-content/themes/sparkling/inc/css/bootstrap.min.css?ver=3.9.1.

It might be worth including the optimized bootstrap file with your theme. Makes it even snappier!

    Thanks again!

    Nice catch!

The thing is that many users also uses Bootstrap shortcode plugins such as Easy Bootstrap Shortcodes and it relies on built-in Bootstrap files and these shortcodes are capable of using almost all of CSS.

I personally use gzip on my server and the file size is 17.1 kB which is not all that bad. It is not as good as your implementation but it is somewhere decent.

Probably could make some special "performance" option available via Theme Options to loads only Bootstrap css that actually matters to theme itself. Will see but this is definitely something worth to look into.

Sorry to disobey the rules here and go off topic, but I'm curious how to make posts full-width by default as phoenixMagoo has done on http://willresss.com.

    Hey naldrighetti,

The Sparkling theme is built on Bootstrap so it's pretty easy to modify. I just created a child theme and did a few mods to get the larger single column on posts and pages.

I don't think there are any theme options within Sparkling to pair specific widths with specific templates.

@naldrighetti, the rules are there to help you get help. Hiding in a 2-month old thread isn't going to do you any favours.

    Create a new thread: http://wordpress.org/support/theme/sparkling#postform
