• Currently using Magic Post Thumbnail plugin to auto-generate (import from Google Images, etc) featured images for posts based on the title.

Would be GREAT if you guys could come up with something like this to automatically fetch images from Google Images, YouTube thumbs, etc…

    Thanks for the suggestion, @wordmax.

FIFU is going to have some scraper features in 2020.

    Great!

Let me know if you need a beta tester for development version that includes scraping features. I have some sites that are 100% auto-posting from feeds many times a day so it would probably be a good testing ground for this.

    Thanks

    Hi Marcel,

Just following up on this idea I proposed for the plugin to programmatically fetch/insert featured images from Google Images, Flickr, Bing, etc based on the title of the post.

I’m currently using plugin Magic Post Thumbnail to produce featured images based on the title. I’ve created a custom shortcode value for the [post_title] that can be implemented anywhere as necessary.

So I would be very cool if this plugin would be able to use my [post_title] in it’s code in order to produce a featured image from desired source like Google Images, Bing, Flickr, etc.

Hope this makes sense and let me know what you think about the idea!

    Thanks!

Looking forward to this scraper function as well, would be ground-breaking!

Hi, there will be something for that soon. I can’t promise it will work with all those services or if the feature will be in the free version, but it’s something that should be implemented for sure.

Just a simple “first-image-from-google-search” and “disallowed-sites” (if image is hosted on that domain, skip and choose next), would be superbly awesome.

And yes of course, this feature is most definitely worth a premium price 😉

    Okay, @onaccs.

    It will have “first-image-from-google-search” and “disallowed-sites” .

I’m starting the development today. I believe it won’t take more than 1 week to be ready. I’m thinking in add some extra filters as min/max width/height and orientation.

My first idea is to schedule an event that will look for posts without images each N minutes. This way, import processes won’t get slower because of the new feature (there is a delay of a few seconds to find an image).

But I should add something in the post editor for users that do everything manually. How do you create your posts by the way?

If you have more ideas, you are welcome, @wordmax.

You are AWESOME! Thank you so much!!

    Scheduled generation sounds nice!

REST API of course 🙂 🙂

Oh that reminds me, could you also please make it generate an image automatically if there isn’t one set (like FIFU’s automatic image metadata generation via REST in premium).

    Thanks so much!

By the way it can’t be a free feature because eventually the Search Engine will change something and the image search will stop working. Many people won’t understand that and will ruin the plugin reputation before I have a change to fix that.

Yep yep, totally onboard with that! You’ve got a 100% infinitely satisfied customer here, for life 🙂
