    Hello.

I use Page Caching and DB caching only, for a 5.000+ articles blog. I have turned this to almost read only. I only post 1-2 articles per month.

So i would like to ask what are the best settings for EXPIRATIONS on Page and DB caching.

For example can i set 1 month for page expiration ? And how, since i don’t use the browser caching and from what i understand in there i can only set the pages expirations ?

Why don’t you move the page expiration time to the proper settings, in Page caching ?

Also how can i maximize the hits in DB caching ? Larget ttl ? Now i see 160 seconds or something.

    Thanks

    Hello @dimalifragis,
Thank you for your inquiry and I am happy to answer.
First of all, thank you for your suggestion!
As you may have noticed, W3 Total Cache is a very complex plugin with a lot of options.
The TTL of page cache files is set via the “Expires header lifetime” field in the “HTML” section on Browser Cache Settings tab as this proved to be the best for the most use-cases.
You can enable Browser Cache in Performance>General settings and then go to Pefromance>Browser Cache, disable everything except Set expires header in the “HTML” section.
We are working on some UI re-design which will simplify settings for use-cases such is yours. but that is a work in progress.
As for DB Caching hits, This depends on CPU, RAM and how frequently your website is visited.

    Thanks for the detail reply.

As for the DB, i run a blog on a shared plan, with limitasions. 1giga ram, 25 db connections, 20 entry processes. As for CPU i haven’t got any violation so far. As for visitors, i get around 4-5.000 per month.

Also since i have disabled the browser cache, what is my current ttl for page cache ?

    Hello @dimalifragis,

If TTL is not set in via the “Expires header lifetime” there is no TTL for page cache.
