Support » Theme: Twenty Seventeen » suggestion: color scheme

  • Hello.
Currently, Color Scheme in Customizer has 3 options; light, dark, custom.
By light and dark, users have a option to handle background color as the name. The third option;Custom changes only text color. If it is not only change color but also background color, users can make light/dark scheme and their own color scheme.

What do you guys think about this idea?

It’s not technically feasible to allow the user to change every instance of colour. There are over 200 elements that have colour applied to them in the theme’s stylesheet:

Would this mean 200 fields in the dashboard?

The more feasible idea is to customise the colours using CSS through the ‘Additional CSS’ section of the dashboard:

Here is more detail. My rough idea was more specific about context in the ‘color scheme section’ in the Customizer. When user click Dark radio button, users see it change background color and text color. When they click White radio, background change back to white and text color change to black. But the the third radio button;custom, only change the text color. So I felt something lack of color scheme section and I opened this ticket. If there was one more color picker for background, users could feel they have full control of scheme;text and background.
Of course, users can change background color using css, and I prefer this way as web developer.

I understand what you mean and I am in no way associated with the Twenty Seventeen theme or core, but I don’t think users would feel they would that unless they really had access to the majority of background and text colours – which I don’t think is feasible.
