    Hi Marcel,
Thank you for this great extension.
I would enjoy discover an option to display caption or title in the next updates.
    Do you plan this?
    Best regards,
    Florian

    Hi Florian,
I think the spirit of this viewer is to keep things as simple as possible. That is my intention as well for the WP plugin.

If you do have different ideas about this viewer and plugin, feel free to fork it and do as you wish šŸ™‚ I mean that in a good way.

    Thank you for the compliments.

If you do decide to fork, it might be better to wait till this plugin is updated to 2.0.

    Hello Marcel,

    I appreciate the evolution:
We can now read the title of the image next its number in the bottom of the lightbox.
I would like to display the Caption instead of the Title.
Could you please tell me how I can do this?

    Thanks in advance,
    Florian

    I’m not sure really šŸ™‚
Currently it uses the alt attribute of the image. If there is a caption, it is often a different element like <figcaption> that holds the text. That might even be different for different kinds of images, like a gallery, a single image or something generated by a plugin or widget.

You can look here where it is getting the alt attribute of the image:
    https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/wp-imageviewer/trunk/wp-imageviewer-init.js#L114
You would have to rewrite that code to get the text content of a figcaption element or any other element that might be there.

I am not doing that šŸ™‚ I am not sure if it would work everywhere. If it is just one website, you might make it work.

You can use an program like ExifTool or ExifToolGUI to rearrange the metadata fields in the image. So swap the Caption and Title.
