Support » Plugin: List category posts » Suggestion: Button for creating shortcode in the editor

  • Two years (ore even more) after I promised, I finally made my paypal donation. Thanks for the precious help back in 0.44 days.

Now I came across an idea that would make the plugin much more usable for my clients whom I cannot tell to use shortcodes. What they need, and what I want to suggest to improve in the plugin to become an even more amazing tool, is to create a button in the tiny mce editor to insert a postlist. When the button is clicked, actually the same options box can open as it already exists in the widget, just in this case the finished shortcode should be entered into the content. It doesn’t need to be also editable afterwards, which would require a much bigger coding effort, but at least the creation. I know other plugins doing so and it would be important to have a simple interface for my clients.

    Thanks and all the best

  • Update: I found in another post list paid plugin how he has solved: he has a shortcode-generator IN the widget! Even easier to code I guess, no editor hassle. So the widget can have a button called “Generate shortcode” and it spits out the shortcode that can then be copied into any page. Fabolous… will you integrate it?

Another issue is that sometimes I need a page list. It seems to be meanwhile possible with the post_type=”page”, but then I wonder how to tell him which pages I want to list? Pages don’t make sense with categories, but only unique ID’s. Anyhow another urgently needed option would be to simply create a manual list of posts independent of categories, as “post_ids=”22,44,77” to list these three posts or pages. Wouldn’t that also be an amazing enhancement yet simple to code?

Looking forward to hear your opinion…

May I ask if my suggestions have stood unnoticed or if they are considered to implement?
