Hi. At the moment, when you forget to enter the title and publish an article, the simplified name is the number. In the web browser, just enter the title of the article, remove the simplified name (number) and save, it will automatically download the simplified name from the title. In the WordPress mobile app, it doesn’t work like that. You have to enter the simplified name manually. Can you make the app feel like a browser?

Testing this myself on app version 21.9 I see (untitled) as the title when I publish a post that does not include a title in it, only content. Can you share a screenshot or screen recording of what’s happening for you? It sounds like something unique is happening for you on your site.

Thank you for your answer. In the video you can see that the “Ok” button is inactive, but if I put a space and “Ok” it gets the name from the title. I don’t know if it’s an error.

    Hi, @autori76!

I’m trying to replicate the behavior you described in a browser for replacing the post’s slug. It looks like the steps are:

    1. Publish a post without a title
    2. The post’s slug will be a number
    3. Edit the post
    4. Add a title to the post
    5. Remove the post’s slug
    6. The slug will automatically be replace by the newly added post title

And in the mobile app, you’re finding that the same steps cannot be followed. Is my understanding correct?

    Hi @dcka

Your reasoning is correct. The example I gave probably rarely happens, but I will give an example that can happen often: you add a short title, and then you want to change it to a long one. Normally when you remove the simplified name (I think it’s called “slug” as you wrote) of the short title it should fetch the long title, but it doesn’t because the “Ok” button is disabled. I checked.

I now know to add a space, but other users may not know.

Thank you for confirming! I see the same when I follow your steps, and this is different from how WordPress works in a browser. I’ve shared your feedback with the development team so they can investigate further: https://github.com/wordpress-mobile/WordPress-Android/issues/18104
