• I did a guided transfer from wp.com to wp.org three weeks ago. Two days ago, I noticed my jetpack stats page, under search engine terms, my hits were way down. I used to get refers from all kinds of search topics, but now only get refers from the search phrase “gnome lover” the name of my blog. I haven’t messed with any settings since moving, and don’t know why this would just start happening now. Any ideas?

  • That’s at least partly because .COM sites get SEO benefits from being part of the .COM network. Self-hosted sites don’t have that. Are you using an SEO plugin on your new site and have you signed up with Google Webmaster Tools? Those can be helpful on a self-hosted site.

Thanks for the quick reply! I use the yoast seo plugin, and use webmaster tools from google and bing… would it really take three weeks for the .com befits to “wear off”?
