• Hi!

We have a website running on WordPress, for about 4 months and have had no problems to date, UNTIL… (drama drums crescendo)

Less than 24 hours ago, suddenly I cannot log into wp-admin. Neither can anybody else. Forgot Password says the usernames don’t exist. On phpmyadmin, the wp-users table still has the same info that it did before. Same user_login, user_nicename, and user_email.
However, the wp-login page does not recognize either user_login or user_email when I try to reset my password.

The rest of the site (blog content, page content) is still intact.

What could cause this, or more importantly how can this be resolved?

No new updates have been pushed to my knowledge.

    HELP!
    Thank you!

    Jason

Thank you Tara for your reply. I had done most of those but then found the cause and a manual way to resolve.

Found out what is causing the trouble. We restored a backup, using Plesk, to a subdomain.
Apparently there is a set of global parameters that got copied into the wp_config file for EVERY site, root domain as well as all subdomains.

This one subdomain also happens to be on a subdirectory under the primary webfiles dir.

Is there any way to prevent Plesk, when restoring the backups to a subdomain, from overwriting the primary domain wp_config?

I really do not want the production website to go offline whenever I restore a backup to the dev site.

It does not make sense that it does this. Any thoughts.
    Thank you.
