Hi @stegemueller,
Can’t see your website since it appears you’re currently blocking visits from my country but try upgrading to version 5.3.5 and see if that fixes the issue.
I’m sorry Héctor.
Which country are you from? I’ll open up for you. I have had many problems with intruders, that is why I needed to block many countries.
I am already on Version 5.3.5
Kind regards,
Hanne
I just used a VPN and was able to see your website so don’t worry.
Alright, so this is what I’m seeing now:
I guess that’s what you mean by the list looking strange?
Oh no Héctor – then you should not worry at all! Thanks for your kind and fast reply!
It is almost how it should be, only a little bit of CSS is missing – but I can find it in my code repository. I make backup of everything. Just before, when I wrote to you, it was full of code in bold. And I can not write two lines of code 🙂
Have a great evening.
From the source code it seems you’re trying to use the “Tiny” WPP theme? If so, try going to the widget settings form (Appearance > Widgets > [Your Sidebar] > WordPress Popular Posts), switch to a different theme (eg. Cards), save, then switch back to Tiny and save again (and if you’re using a caching plugin -or if your hosting provider has their own page caching mechanism- clear its cache). That should improve things a bit at least.
Oh, note that if you’re changing the CSS stylesheets that come bundled with the plugin to customize your popular posts list: don’t do that 😛
When you update a plugin, any plugin, WordPress will delete all of its files and replace them with the ones that come with the new version, deleting any changes you made to the files.
In WPP’s case, if you want to customize a specific theme (like Tiny) then this is the recommended way to do so: Customizing an existing WordPress Popular Posts widget theme.
Anyways, if you have any comments / questions don’t hesitate to ask.
Thank Héctor. You are always so kind!
I actually had made a backup in the the tiles-folder, but the whole folder is overwritten, not only the active files, when there comes a backup! It is a pitty, but from now on, I’ll make a local backup of the CSS-file.
I always learn something here 🙂
Have a nice evening.
Kind regards,
Hanne,
