Support » Fixing WordPress » Sudden media upload problem

  • Hi,

I can’t seem to find out what caused this, but suddenly I can’t successfully upload media anymore. When I use the media manager to upload an image it creates the entry in the database fine, but it doesn’t upload the actual jpg. I don’t see any errors, just an empty thumbnail.

I checked the folder permission on the server, and everything seems to be in order. The other websites that run on the same server don’t have issues.

I also tried increasing the memory limit, disable all plugins and activated Twenty Seventeen.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

If you can install plugins, install “Health Check”: https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/ On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

    Hi t-p,

Thanks for your reply. I already tried disabling all plugins and activated a standard theme, but the problem remained.

Thanks for pointing me to the health check plugin. The only notice that gave me was that I have a very outdated version of php on my server. I instructed my host to upgrade php, but I’m not sure that’s the problem since the other sites on the same server work fine.

Also ask your host if they recently changed any setting on the server, etc.
