Sudden drop in Adsense pageviews

    Hi Thomas,

    Since my Adsense switched to the material design version, I’ve seen a huge drop in page views and earnings. Analytics says page views is 20x what is being reported on Adsense. I can’t seem to figure out what is going on.

    I have tried posting in adsense forum. Cleared cache and CDN. Double checked the code.

    Disabled Autoptimize and WP Rocket.

    Ads are not showing up at all. And Adsense is reporting something very wrong – account is in good standing.

    2. You did not test the placement, right?

    3. Are you using the “Limit to 3 ads” option in Advanced Ads > Settings > Adsense?

    Removing the limit to 3 ads has fixed the problem. That was strange, I’ve had that checked for years.

    Thanks for testing that. Happy to see that it works.

    The problem with this feature is that sometimes, other plugins trigger this count without displaying ads. It is possible that a plugin you recently installed or updated does that now.

    Since AdSense no longer has this limit, you can also keep it disabled. I wrote about this here when they removed that rule on their end.
