• I’m trying to scan a site that I know has been compromised. The SUCURI plugin fails to get beyond a few files with the error – SUCURI: SiteCheck error: Unable to properly scan your site. Timeout reached

    Any advice?

  • You may need to increase PHP’s max_execution_time. I hit this same error on my host where this value is 60, but I have no problems on other hosts where it’s 3600.

If you’re not sure how to do this (or if you don’t have access to do so), contact your hosting provider; they may be able to help.

    Hello,

We do have the max_execution_time set up at 3000 and yet the timeout error for the scan.
is it to something with the security plugins or firewall?

My suggestion may have been a red herring, as I too increased my other host from 60 to 3600, and I still get this error. I’m unsure why.

This is a Sitecheck error – Sitecheck is a scan run externally from the Sucuri server. It’s not a script running on your server. If you go here:

    https://sitecheck.sucuri.net/

And enter your site URL, you’ll get the timeout error.

Unfortunately (for me) since I manage my own host, I turned off all other server firewall functions and disabled any WordPress security plugins other than Sucuri and it still fails and of course Sucuri can’t offer any specific info on what operation the Sitecheck scan is trying to perform that is timing out. It is almost like Sitecheck is broke and they just aren’t admitting it.

@consultant1027 Can you share one of your domain names that is encountering this timeout problem? I can try checking it out.

    Hello,

Did you guys find the solution for this issue? I am having two servers with multiple websites and having the same issue.

The ithemes security plugin installed on most of the websites.

thank you for the update, no support from sucuri in this regard unless there is paid product subscriptions.

@rahulkshinde @kgagne Can you provide the URL for the WP installation that is being scanned?

Sometimes it is necessary to whitelist the IP addresses the SiteCheck service uses to scan the website as the web host may interpret the scan as an attack/reconnaissance.

    #IPs to whitelist
    52.203.142.240
    34.229.141.32
    35.175.20.111
    52.87.213.12
    184.73.40.53
    18.206.213.51
