Success message for an existing user
-
Noticed that a success message for an existing user doesn’t show up, instead I get a message which is for a new user.
Appreciate if you could look into this.

Hi Roy,
What message are you expecting for an existing user? Do you have it set to update users who are already subscribed?
Thank you!
-TracyHi Tracy,
Yes, it’s set to update users who are already subscribed and the actual information update works fine.
But after the form submission I only get a success message for a new user regardless if it’s a new one or an existing subscriber.
I changed default custom messages for “Success Message” and “Email already subscribed” in a form settings, and the result still the same – the message for a new subscriber shows up even for an existing subscriber.
I compared the behaviour to a standard embedded Mailchimp form and for an existing subscriber it throws an error “Subscriber already exists…”
Hello!
We throw an “Subscriber already exists” message if you have it set to NOT update an existing subscriber. Otherwise, it give the same success message as a new subscriber (Thank you for subscribing!).
The “Email already subscribed” message is for users if you have updates turned off. We also have a email verification message if you want users to verify updates to their profile via email.
We’ll discuss and think about making a different message for existing subscribers. It is a good idea.
Thank you!

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
I got it Tracy. Thanks for adding to the to-do list.
I planed to use a “Thanks. Check your mail to confirm” message for new users and “I’ve just sent you a bonus” to existing subscribers.
That’s cool. We’ll make a generic already subscribed message and the ability to customize it like our other messages.
