[Resolved] subsites dashboard gets redirected to nonsense address
I’ve been struggling with a multisite setup that I just can’t seem to get right.
I initally tried to do this [http://wordpress.org/support/topic/need-http-for-add-on-domains-under-multisite-thats-https?replies=4], but after trying several solutions, gave up and decided to completely reinstall under http (still using the softaculous installer my webhost provides) and use the https plugin [http://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-https/] to handle the secure parts.
however i could not get that to work and after a couple of retries, finally giving in and trying to install (under http) WP-MS the manual way, according to the docs [link], and also this article [http://wordpress.org/plugins/ssl-subdomain-for-multisite/].
Now i’m running into an issue whereby my main site works fine, and my subsites come up, but trying to access the dashboard for the subsites redirects me to “https://https/wp-admin/”. see for yourself by trying to access the dashboard from this site (nothing up there yet because i just reinstalled): http://rosecircle.global-dialog.org/
I’m guessing this must be an .htaccess issue. I made sure to copy and paste the suggested .htaccess from the domain setup screen, as well as the .htaccess that the softaculous installer prepared for me, when i tried that. and i’ve tried using the suggested .htaccess rules from the following forum posts to no avail:
and even these, though it wasn’t exactly the error i am getting
I’ve followed all the directions here [http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network] to the letter — twice from scratch.
I’m not a UI-only user — i’m comfortable with code and — i thought — no stranger to .htaccess and ModRewrite. However I’m at a total loss at this point. Any and all help appreciated.
