Support » Networking WordPress » subsite dashboards for multisite are suddenly gone

  • I have a multisite setup with 2 websites, one for my paintings and one for my husband’s paintings. I set it up years ago. Yesterday it was working fine. Today, both of our sites are still there, with all of the data, but the dashboards are gone, and all of the styling and coding is gone. The dashboard is still there for the multisite, but when I try to go from there to the subsite dashboards, I get the dreaded white screen of death, with a message that there were too many redirects. I don’t know how to fix this, and worst of all I can’t get to my backups to restore anything, because I would have yto reach those through the subsite dashboards. Please help somebody!

  • Hello,

Have you tried to follow the instructions in this section?

Common WordPress Errors -> The White Screen of Death
    https://wordpress.org/support/article/common-wordpress-errors/#the-white-screen-of-death

Hello @dollyanna, I hope all is well.

I did a quick inspection, and your site is full of errors when using developer tools.

I would recommend you disable all plugins and see if the styling of both sites, as well as dashboards, loads for you. If so, then enable the plugins one by one until you get the issue you are reporting.

This will be the quickest way to determine if somehow you have a conflict with a third-party plugin.

You may have not touched it, but perhaps you have auto-updates enabled and one of the plugins, while updating automatically, caused this issue.

    I hope this helps.

I disabled all of the plugins and still got the white screen of death. (I did have the plugins set to auto-update.)

    Hello @dollyanna,

I once had this kind of issue and re-installed WordPress, and was resolved. It was due to an update that somehow missed a few files and led to issues on the backend.

Could you give it a try?

    @dollyanna

I disabled all of the plugins and still got the white screen of death. (I did have the plugins set to auto-update.)

Have you tried the instructions in “Your Theme may be causing the problem…” on the page I listed above?

In other words, switch to a standard theme.

Since your site is running 5.9.3 , try switch to “Twenty Twenty-Two”.
