    I have setup a multisite on netsol at http://www.lakecountyschools.net and when I login in to the main site the dashboard is working properly, as well as the network dashboard. But when I try to access the subsite, the front end works, but the dashboard shows up as a bullet list with no formatting and none of the links work.

    subsite http://www.lakecountyschools.net/testsite/
    image of dashboard http://postimg.org/image/ivxdpzlob/

    I have fresh and clean installed several times as well as started new databases. I have also cleared all of the themes and plugins and it still brings up a bullet list.

    the wordpress directory is in root/htdocs/ since that is how netsol sets up. I am not sure what to check to make this work. any help would be great.

    If I remove the mod_write the formatting comes back briefly then goes back to the list.

    .htaccess

    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]

    # add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?wp-admin$ $1wp-admin/ [R=301,L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]

    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(.*\.php)$ $2 [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]
    # BEGIN WordPress

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f

    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
    </IfModule>

    # END WordPress

    You did not replace the old rules. You added to them.

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]

    # add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?wp-admin$ $1wp-admin/ [R=301,L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^ - [L]
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(wp-(content|admin|includes).*) $2 [L]
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(.*\.php)$ $2 [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]

    I have replace the rules each time

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]

    # add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?wp-admin$ $1wp-admin/ [R=301,L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^ - [L]
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(wp-(content|admin|includes).*) $2 [L]
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(.*\.php)$ $2 [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]
    # BEGIN WordPress
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]

    # add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?wp-admin$ $1wp-admin/ [R=301,L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^ - [L]
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(wp-(content|admin|includes).*) $2 [L]
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(.*\.php)$ $2 [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]
    </IfModule>

    # END WordPress

    and I have tried just

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]

    # add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?wp-admin$ $1wp-admin/ [R=301,L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^ - [L]
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(wp-(content|admin|includes).*) $2 [L]
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(.*\.php)$ $2 [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]

    So I change them and again and again and it still goes to the bullet list.

    You did not replace. If you had replaced, you would not have had the second section of WordPress htaccess rules 🙂 It’s a common mistake, happens to everyone. Anyway, make SURE you’re using the one I gave you for now. That’s fixing one error.

    Now add this to your wp-config: define('SCRIPT_DEBUG', true);

    It goes right below the Multisite lines.

    Then flush your browser cache.

    Okay so that brought the proper dashboard up thanks for that. Now when I click on the different menu items on the left side some of them come up and some of them do not. I hit reload and most of them come up, but not smoothly. Is there anything else I can do to get it working smoothly?

    Hard flush the browser cache for everything. It’s just caught some bad data.
