Support » Plugin: Paid Memberships Pro » Subscriptions should trump buying access to single posts

  • Hi and thanks for a great plugin so far

    I’m currently setting up my news business using PMPro. The business model is that either you could buy a subscription (1, 3 or 12 months at a time) and have access to everything, but for non-subscribers I would also like to give the possibility of buying access to single posts, so I’ve installed the PMPro Addon Packages for that.

    So here’s my problem: It seems that although I’m registered as a subscriber, I don’t get access to the posts where I’ve also enabled the one-time charge option. Instead it prompts me to pay the one time charge to view the post.

    Am I missing a setting here, or is this the default behaviour? For my business model, subscribers should of course have access to everything and only non paying users should be prompted to pay the one-time fee.

    Hope this can be solved.

    Sincerely
    //Lars

    Hey Lars,

    This is actually the default behavior. The PMPro Addon Packages plugin is meant for additional paid content – for both already registered members and non-members alike, although I can see how this would interfere with your business model. However, you should be able to accomplish what you’re trying to do with some custom code.

    For example, you could hook into the save_post action when an addon package is created, check for the same $_POST[‘pmproap_price’] variable (here), and add your users via with pmproap_addMemberToPost (here).

    Does that make sense?

    Hope that helps!

    Thanks,
