Hi I use Contact Form 7 to do a very basic newsletter subscription signup in my site footer.

My form hasn’t changed in 3 years but I have just noticed that when I fill it out and hit submit, I get a circular busy icon that just never goes away. Some minutes later, as admin, I will receive a mail note saying that X user has subscribed.

There is no visual clue to the user to tell them they have successfully subscribed. This has disappeared (or the turning icon is blocking its display)

Can anyone help me sort this out please. I am on version 5.4 and have the latest version of WP (although this issue has spanned more than one version of wp)

    Thanks
    Sam

OK I have identified what is causing this issue:

I Have auotoptimise and the Javascript options has an option:

    Also aggregate inline JS?
Let Autoptimize also extract JS from the HTML. Warning: this can make Autoptimize’s cache size grow quickly, so only enable this if you know what you’re doing.

When this is set the spinning icon runs, when off all is good.

How can I use this optimise option and not fall over?

    Thanks
    Sam

I don’t think this is a complete answer.

I have the same “busy rolling ball” issue when I send a form.

I also use Autoptimize, but the “Also aggregate inline JS?” option is deselected. So the comment by @goldandgreyuk does not resolve the issue for me.

There’s an option to exclude scripts from Autoptimize. What Contact Form 7 script can I exclude?
