Support » Plugin: WooCommerce » Subscription Coupon Not Working

I have WooCommerce and Subscriptions. I’m trying to create an order manually to email to a prospective customer. it’s for a subscription item (service) they will may for monthly for one year. I create the coupon (recurring product discount) for $17 off of each of 12 payments (one year, 12 months), but when I try to apply it to the order it says “Sorry, recurring coupons can only be applied to subscriptions or subscription orders.”

Not sure what I’m doing wrong. I made sure the product is a subscription, it’s the only thing in the order.

@diver4242 What is the process that you are following to create the order? If this is a subscription product, I’d recommend creating the Pending subscription first, where you’ll add the recurring coupon. After the subscription has been created you can then create a parent pending order.

This process is outlined in the following documentation links:

    Manually create a subscription: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/subscriptions/add-or-modify-a-subscription/#section-1

Create a pending parent order: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/subscriptions/add-or-modify-a-subscription/#section-14

If you are still having trouble adding this, after reading those docs, I’d recommend reaching out to the corresponding team for support. If you have an active license for subscription, you can contact the support team by heading to WooCommerce.com > Support > Help with my purchased products.

I’m going to close this thread now.

I go to Orders->Add Order button to create the new subscription order. I’ll review your links and try to do it the other way, then report back.

Definitely, I’d recommend starting with creating the subscription first, and then adding the parent order. I’ll leave this thread open for now. Let us know how that goes!

I got it working, thanks! You can close the thread.
