• Yesterday I noticed that my subscription opt-in was no longer in my widget. No problem I still have the code at my main site, so I added it back.
Then I changed the confirmation pages address—since it had not changed over when I changed the permalink structure.

I tested it and when I hit the submit button it took me to http 404 with the correct address at the top. I was worried people couldn’t subscribe, but the verification arrived in my test email, so it is only that they cannot see the confirmation page.
But what is weird is I pasted the confirmation page address in and hit enter and it worked—no http 404.
So if you click on this http://loveanyway.theherosspouse.com/?page_id=78 it will take you there, but if you try to get there by subscribing…it won’t work. Sorry, but this just doesn’t make sense to me. I even tried taking the address from the http 404 page itself and pasting it back into the same page and hitting enter—it worked. That was just to make sure there were no typos somewhere.

On a less important side not I would like to have my book cover image included on this widget but I removed it months ago because it wouldn’t come through. It worked (until yesterday when for some unknown reason it stopped working) on my main site but never on the blog. Any thoughts? The coding at the blog was slightly different since it pointed to an image (same one) in my media library instead of the image file on my computer, but other than that it was set up to look the same.

    Anyone?

Since posting, the confirmation now goes to a page not found within my website desing rather than a generic http 404. I did nothing to cause the change, it just stated doing that about an hour after my initial post.

    It seems weirder now.

I realized I have another subscriber opt-in on my homepage that is not an include. I changed the address to update for changes in permalinks and tested it. The other day I had identical issues with an include on my homepage as well as the widget on my site. The code is identical; the differences are the words of explanation to the reader.

No luck–same results as the include and as the blog.

I also copied the code and compared them. They are almost identical. The only difference is a couple of additional line breaks in the one that is not part of an include. The extra explanation for the reader is only at the blog.

So I went to the page in my admin area and got a short link and put that code into all three forms.

Results for the include and the blog were the same–page not found.
But the one that was not part of the include worked. HUH?

So something else must be wrong with the include and widget?
    What?
The freebie image at my main site stopped showing up and I don’t know why, but it never worked on the blog so I removed it.
So the image is part of the include code, but not part of the form code itself.

The short link to the confirmation is http://wp.me/P1pHKc-1g
    The full link is http://loveanyway.theherosspouse.com/?page_id=78

Both work if you just paste them in and go.
