subscriber email notifications for different content types

I’m using the Jetpack email subscription feature on my blog.

I normally publish two types of content on my blog: ordinary text-based posts and podcasts. I use the seriously-simple-podcasting plugin for my podcasts.

When I publish a normal post, my subscribers receive an email notification. That works great. But when I publish a podcast, no email is sent to my subscribers.

Is there a way to have an email sent to my subscribers when I publish podcasts as well as posts?

Is this a Jetpack issue, a plugin issue, a theme issue? I’m not sure where to start.

I’m using seriously simple podcasting and the Twenty Twelve theme.
