Subscribe2 plugin : subscribe using an invalid email address

  • Hello,

I am using Subscribe2 plugin and I am wondering if it is possible to check the email address that is entered by the subscriber, before adding it into the database.
Indeed, thise would be a way to fight against spamming, people subscribing many times with different and invalid email adresses.
    Thanks for your answer.
    Regards,
    Isa74

  • Isa74,

If you get a lot of bogus emails registered from the same domain then block it in the Settings page.

I don’t think is a good idea to block domains from bogus subscribers. If hotmail, yahoo and google (or any local country domain) get blocked most of the users would be out. Maybe a double opt-in option for subscribing is better.
    I’d rather preferred http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/post-notification/

    regards.

    Gonzalezea,

Blocking the hosts you name would be unwise but for domains that are less legitimate I find it a useful addition. Subscribe2 also uses an opt-in confirmation anyway, the issue is about the storage of Unconfirmed details.

All that said, if you prefer different solutions then that’s fine 🙂

Since I have installed subscribe2 in variuos blogs in different domains I note that the SPAMBOTS registered in my sites as users grown up a lot.
    Be careful using this plugin.
