Subscribe with MailPoet in Ultimate Member registration forms

Hello, we are using Ultimate Member for different types of user registrations and we would like to allow users to subscribe to a MailPoet list at the same time with their registration.

I did some research and found a lot of threads about that, but no easy working solution so far.

#1 Using the MailPoet option to subscribe with the registration form.
I could not get this solution to work, however it won’t be sufficient. We want to offer subscriptions only with some of our Ultimate Member registration forms and not the same subscription options with all registration forms.

So we would need the same possibilities in Ultimate Member that we have when designing MailPoet forms to select a specific list or add a list selection.

This plugin promises to be the perfect solution, however it was released 5 years ago and I can not find real reviews.
Can anyone recommend or not recommend this plugin by experience? Does it still work with the latest versions?

#3 Connect MailPoet and UltimateMember with an automation plugin.
Allegedly this should be another possible solution. It is advertised on the providers’ websites of Uncanny Automator and WPFusion: An automation plug-in starts a function when registering with UM to add users to mailing lists. However I have the feeling this is an excessive effort for this task and not a good solution because of the GDPR, not to mention the price.

I would be very happy to receive advice or testimonials!

Hi @w-sky,

All WordPress Users registered as Users will be added to the WordPress Users lists. When you’re using the default WordPress registration form, you can add a checkbox for them to opt-in to the mailing list when registering by enabling the option “Subscribe in registration form” in MailPoet > Settings > Basics tab.

However, when you’re using a 3rd-party custom registration form like Ultimate Member plugin, we don’t have any integration for that.

Please note that if a subscriber is properly added to the WordPress Users list when registered through Ultimate Member, you can also set a second list to subscribe them to in MailPoet > Settings > Basics tab > Subscribe in the registration form. However, it’s not possible to display a list selection field on the registration page for the subscriber to choose which list they want to be subscribed to.

I’m afraid the only way to do that is by having a custom code to integrate the plugin’s checkbox.

Thanks for the advice! I found Ultimate Member in the integration requests lists https://feedback.mailpoet.com/integrations/p/ultimate-member-integration-please but with only 4 votes so far it seems unlikely to be integrated by MailPoet.

As we need to show individual mailing list options with each registration form, we can only hope that @champsupertramp or someone at Ultimate Member will integrate MailPoet. 🙂 Or try out the plugin from tunsplugins.

I’ve tried the plugin from tunsplugins and it didn’t work for me. The fields never showed up on the profile page even though I added them.

I’ve contacted support several times over the last week but no response yet.

I would be willing to help fund something that would do this. And thanks to the link from @w-sky I just contacted @champsupertramp so fingers crossed.

I know that buddypress has a solution but I really want to stay with UltimateMember if possible.

Hello @sifuhall and thanks a lot for this report. Did you make any progress on this topic? Meanwhile I made some unsuccessful experiments with MailPoet’s function to show a “subscribe to newsletter” option on the registration form. Here: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/mailpoet-integration-with-um-subscription-checkboxes-in-registration-form/

But even if this worked it would not help us. We have several Ultimate Member registration forms and each form should have an option to subscribe to one specific newsletter. So it’s a different newsletter with each UM registration form.

I think this could be done if we add some specific PHP code snippets which insert the MailPoet subscribe option code into the UM registration form, but how?
