  • @christopheran,

    There is something similar in the current code but not exactly as you’ve described.

    It’s only available to Registered Subscribers on the Subscribe2->Your Subscriptions page where subscribers can opt out of getting emails from specific authors.

    So, it isn’t available on the front end of your site, it’s not available to Public Subscribers and it’s an opt out rather than an opt in.

    Hi Mattyrob,

    Thank you for getting back to me on this.

    Yeh, I’ve spent hours searching for a plugin that would let readers request an email alert when a new post from a specific author is posted.

    I think it would be cool for writers to develop their own email followers. Then I can include a promo in those alerts for readers to join our site as members – but this would be like a first step. It would also be a great way for writers to connect with their readers (besides social networking).

    Thanks again for getting back to me. If you run across anything like this do let me know,

    Chris

    @christopheran,

    You could always consider using WordPress based on a multisite install with each author having their own individual blog. I’m not aware of anything that currently meets your needs.

    hmm, interesting idea… if I was starting a new site that might work, but it would take a major restructuring of our existing site – more than I’m up for at the moment 🙂

    But maybe some other kind of mashups might work… I’ll keep looking into it!

    Chris
