I am trying to create subpages for my website http://yourgreenflooring.com I am setting up the new pages on the dashboard and setting their parents but they don’t show on the website. My theme is Papyrus 1.1 I don’t know whats causing the problem it could be that I had to make the homepage a subpage or else I would have 2 homepages.

I thought I created subpages on this website with this theme before. I have another website and subpages are easily created.

    Thanks for the help!

  • Which page is a subpage?

Are you sure the menu in this theme supports subpages (dropdowns I assume you want)?

I want to create subpages they are not showing yet. I think this theme supports subpages I remember using them before. Why are you discussing the menu, the subpage is created on the page the menus are for widgets on the sidebar?

I’m sorry but your chosen theme is not released under GPL. Non GPL products are not welcome in the WordPress community. Official WordPress policy states that all plugins and themes that are publicly released are required to adhere to http://wordpress.org/about/gpl/

I would also strongly recommend that you read this article and consider changing to a theme from a reputable source asap.

Please I have had this website for a year and really cannot change the theme at this point. I put 1000’s of hours of work into this and really need help. Can I ask the question generically without discussing the specific theme.

The question is how can I create subpages (dropdowns of the headers)for a theme that does not appear to support them. I created the subpages and under the page attributes selected the parent and it is showing as a subpage in the dashboard when all pages are listed. Yet when I open the website there is no dropdown or subpages shown.

Thank you very much for the help

It could be CSS-based, whereby you don’t have the CSS necessary to create a drop-down. I would normally refer you onto a CSS forum, but I only know of forums which promote the principles of open-source code.

I really do not understand this problem because you can look at my past posts related to the same website and theme and I was able to get help here

That would have likely been different if you had revealed you were using a theme not released under the GPL license. It’s only that Esmi pointed it out, that we’ve treated this thread different from your others.

    OK
I am trying a new theme. Ground Floor 2.1 The wood floor background is invisible. How can I get it to show up?
    Thank you for your help.

Your subpage dropdown menu appears to be working http://snag.gy/Xzjo2.jpg , or was this not the issue?

    Thread Starter tmc5005

That was the issue with the other theme which is solved with this new theme. But this new theme has a larger issue which is the background is solid white rather than showing the brown wood planks.

You may have to set it again through the dashboard.

How could that be done. On the dashboard I see Customize your site and set a background color I do not see an option to show the wood planks and when I click on set a background color my screen says You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.

Oh, that theme probably doesn’t provide functionality for it then.
Are you familiar with how to set a background image with CSS? If so, make sure you do-so within some Custom CSS functionality, like that provided by Jetpack plugin.

No Im not fimiliar. All I wanted was the same background shown on the preview for the theme itself which is ground floor 2.1
    Thnk you
