In Yoast, my Categories and Tags are marked for NOINDEX/NOFOLLOW in Taxonomies. I have two Category urls that are being submitted in my sitemap even though they are marked as ‘noindex’. The errors are showing up in GSC.

I’ve browsed through the threads here and noticed other occurrences that were fixed by a Yoast update. I am on the most recent Yoast SEO version (10.0.1) as of this post.

Although I do not have WooCommerce, I have noticed many of the posts with this problem do have Woo.

    How do I fix this?

  • Did you mean to say that you are on Yoast SEO version 14.0.1? (Latest now being 14.0.4.)

    Hi @tderry,

We’re so sorry that you experienced this issue. We’ve written a blog post about the release process, why we did what we did, and why certain things happened. This does not diminish your problem, but it may offer an explanation.

As to your issue: this should be fixed by updating to 14.0.4, which is the latest version (as @hastibe already mentioned). It was, in fact, the primary reason for the 14.0.4 patch release. You can read it in our changelog.

Make sure to run the indexation again by clicking the “Speed up your site”-button in the Tools Tab of the Yoast SEO plugin. If your site has more than 10,000 posts, we advise using the WP CLI command to do the indexation on the server.

    Thank you @hastibe and @martijnvaneeghem .

I was under the impression that I’m up to date as long as the plugin doesn’t say an update is available. I assume the way to update a plugin without an “Update” link/process is the same as a manual install of a new plugin.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi @tderry,

If you go to the Dashboard → Updates, instead of the Plugins tab. Once there, please click on the “Check Again” button. Does the update show then?

If that does not work, or if you need help with updating, we have written an article about how you can update your Yoast SEO plugin.
