    Hi,

    Getting really into this plugin – Rated 5/5!
    Since new to it and tweaking around, still have a few questions.

    I noticed “Custom Fields” can be created to add new ones.

    However, is it possible to change the subject text field into a dropdown list?

    Rather than typing out a subject, I would prefer a drop down list of subjects for them to select from.

    Any examples of how to create this under the theme’s functions.php?

    There is a way to do that. What you want to do is edit the submission form template file. The docs explain how to do that: http://getawesomesupport.com/documentation/awesome-support/templating/

    The template you want to edit is submission.php. You can change the text field into a dropdown, the only important thing is that you leave the exact same name attribute.

    Could you please provide an example of what the code ought to look like?

    @craiggroshek – I’ve already done this, thanks to Julien Liabeuf for pointing me to the right file to modify, but if you/others are also looking to do it…

    Rock up to: /wp-content/plugins/awesome-support/themes/default/
    (Grab the templates you want to change from that folder, such as submission.php)

    Create a new folder under your WordPress Theme:
    /wp-content/themes/(your theme name)/awesome-support/
    (The folder needs to be called “awesome-support” and place those copied files you want to modify in there with the same structure layout)

    You can now edit that file under your own template for it to use and it grabs it automatically. This is standard PHP coding.

    I personally removed:
    <input name="wpas_title" type="text" <?php wpas_get_field_class( 'wpas_title' ); ?> value="<?php echo wpas_get_field_value( 'wpas_title', true ); ?>" placeholder="<?php echo apply_filters( 'wpas_form_field_placeholder_wpas_title', __( 'What is this about?', 'wpas' ) ); ?>" required>

    Replacing with the drop down, for example:

    <select name="wpas_title" id="wpas_title" class='wpas-form-control' required>
    <option value=""><?php echo apply_filters( 'wpas_form_field_placeholder_wpas_title', __( 'What is this about?', 'wpas' ) ); ?></option>
    <option value="(option value 1)" >(Option to ask 1)</option>
    <option value="(option value 2)" >(Option to ask 2)</option>
    <option value="(option value 3)" >(Option to ask 3)</option>
    </select>

    Hope that helps?

    Hey 3Lancer,

    Thanks for helping in the support forums 🙂

    I need to tell you that the custom fields system will completely change in version 3.2 and even though your modifications should still work, you might want to consider updating your customization. When 3.2 is out don’t hesitate to ask for help if you wanna update. I will release new docs but it could take a few days.
