 * I am trying to change the colour of the dropdown submenu. Is this possible within
   the theme customizer, or is custom css required?

 * Yes, I wish to change the colour of the drop down submenu, by default it is set
   to blue. My site is not currently live.
 * **Question not relevant to the topic** – If I upgrade to pro initially, will 
   it be possible to later upgrade to ultimate with the pro cost offset for the 
   unlimited use of this theme?

 * You can change Menu Hover color from Appearance -> Customize -> Basic -> Basic
   Style -> Other Elements Background
