subdomain pages are all blank (12 posts)

Just installed a new copy, have mod_rewrite on, all files are in place and I've tried many remedies that others have experienced such as removing trailing line breaks in function.php, etc.

    The root domain is http://www.lotby.com

The first subdomain is http://www.motorcycleinsurance.ag which points to a subfolder of /cars/ The domain and call to the subdirectory both yield a blank page that doesn't even have tags in the source.

Please help! Sadly, I cannot say if the upgrade broke it for it was the first thing I did after logging in.

  2. That's not a SUB domain, that's a separate domain. What plugin are you using for domain mapping?

Found the problem. I didn't deactivate the plugins one by one to see if any were conflicting and one was: Slideshow Gallery Pro version 1.2.03. Removed it and the second domain appeared. Spent a good hour and a half troubleshooting and see that's where I should have started. SErver files were all fine, .htaccess was correct. Man, how you can overlook the obvious. So to all of you using the WordPress Domain Mapping plugin, disable everything else if your additional domains or blogs disappear. Then add them back one at a time to see when it breaks.

  4. Well thats just SOP ;) glad you found it!

Took a break after solving that one and now have another quandry. All of the links on the http://www.motorcycleinsurance.ag show lotby.com as the root. I'm guessing some box was left unchecked? Ideas?

  6. Which WordPress Domain Mapping plugin?

    Seriously there are two.

  7. 3 or 4 actually....

  8. @amityville - read the boxes, they are pretty self-explanatory. "Primary" means it's the MAIN domain you want to map to that blog.

There are some improvements that could be made to the MU domain mapping plugin and I will suggest them with detail. It took quite a bit of trial and error testing, but I now understand exactly which parameters control aspects of the site.

Which of them do you guys feel is the best? Even if it's a paid module, I can see the value in tight controls that are intuitive.

  10. Suggest them to the author then please. :) The options are there based on feedback from other users for the most flexibility.

  11. I don't use any as it happens :) I'm only passingly familiar with them, and usually ceed to Andrea ;)

  12. My responses are biased. :) I offer a paid version, so take that with a grain of salt.

(and consider we work on both the free & paid version, and the paid one is based on the free one)
