Subdomain Installation – subdomain.domain.org

I’m trying to migrate my (seldom-used) blog from MT to WP before I head back to school. With MT I had my blog at username.domain.org instead of http://www.domain.org/username (using .htaccess) but I can’t quite figure out how to config WP to work the same way.

    Tips?

    Thanks folks!

    Brian

Well, is your subdomain mirroring a domain or is it a fully-hosted (self-contained) domain?

If it’s mirroring, setup WP however you’d like, and re-wire the subdomain.

If it’s fully-hosted (self-contained), then just drop all of the WP files into the root (/) directory, as if your root directory was the “wordpress” folder.

My blog is in a subdomain – blog.nuclearmoose.ca, and when the subdomain was created, it shows up as a folder off of the root of nuclearmoose.ca. I just dumped the WP into that folder, and set the proper URLs in the OPTIONS panel and bob’s-your-uncle, I was in business.

One more quickie…if I wanted to setup multiple other blogs for other authors, I do the same in each user dir and use the same database, modifying the table_prefix value?

    Thanks for the super-quick help.

Yes, ensure that you have unique table_prefix values and you can install blogs until the cow moose come home.
