  • Hi,
I just installed on a subdomain a second version of my site (on another language). Also I have activatedthe multisite option. Now I would like to link my portfolio images to those from my primary domain. Is it possible?
I would not like to use the qtranslate type plugins since updates are random and I can broke my site so I prefer the subdomain approach.
On my Cpanel I have my subdomain hot linking added to exceptions.
Do I have to upload all images again(since the portfolio is the same)?

If you created a separate install on the subdomain, then it’s a separate install totally. However even with Multisite, the media libraries are separate. You can copy/paste the image code from the main site to the subdomain.

    Hi Ipstenu,
It is not a separate install. I created the *subdomain and activated Multisite. Then I created my 2nd site using the SuperAdmin Dashboard. I solved the problem for now exporting the configuration file from my primary domain and imported it on my subdomain. With just a few exceptions all my images are were it supposed to be.
My concern is, when I will create a new portfolio will I have to do the export- import thing again?
Or I should just go straight ahead and upload twice my images to both my primary and my subdomain site?
Third question- is the media library for my subdomain in wp-content> bolg.dir?(I am new to WP and multisite and I did so much stuff I can not locate for real all I have done yet)
    Thank you

Sorry, you made it sound like you made the subdomain and then turned on Multisite…

Your two sites are separate, content doesn’t get duplicated between them, so you’d have to upload media twice :/

If you started on WP 3.4 or earlier, you’re in /blogs.dir/

if you started on 3.5 or later you’re in /uploads/sites/

    Thank you
