Hello everyone! I have a conundrum – I have searched the forums and found a lot of great answers, but not the exact answer to my situation, so I need some guidance.
I have a WordPress multisite installation on a domain which is hosted through 1and1. They do not allow wildcard domains, so I had to go the subdirectories route. Now, I have created a subdomain manually through 1and1 and I would like to redirect that subdirectory to the subdomain. So from http://www.example.com/site1 to site.example.com.
I have installed the Domain Mapping Plugin, but honestly I am not seeing how to use it to accomplish what I need. From everything I can see, basically, this subdirectory of /site1 only exists somewhere in the world of make believe and cannot be choosen as a destination for my subdomain.
My host does not use cpanel so I have no access to create permanent 301 redirects.
I am going to need to do this for at least 10 subdirectories, as the website I am working on is for a business that serves multiple locations and would like a subdirectory for each.
Thanks in advance!!! 🙂
