subdirectories broken

I have a site that has had mulitsite since 2012. Don’t know if the site was having problems before, but added some plugins and now all the subdirectories now have a 404 error, even to get into the backend – have deactivated the plugins, made a new .htaccess file, made sure the config.php was okay…

What else can I do?
