sub nav on a page

Hi I would like to create a sub nav that only appears on a certain page and at the top of the content area of that page. I realise I could hard code this in but I would rather use something that is slightly more dynamic.

All the sub nav stuff I have looked at is for a nav just below the main nav. I want the sub nav to be a seperate entity that I can drop into its parent page.
