sub-menu in text area

  • Hi,
I was looking for shortcodes (don’t know if that’s the right term) for a menu like the one below

    http://www.elegantthemes.com/gallery/

in this sub-menu listed for example:

    allthemes app blog
    (82) (10) (30)

where would I find a menu like this one with an arrow pointing to each category – I would like to install this type of menu – I have seen how to create a custom menu in wordpress but seems to be for the main website menu – i want an effect like in my example above – a menu within the text area of a page..what is the proper terminology of what I am looking for and where would I find one? hope you can help

  • Probably the easiest thing for you to do is to use a pre-made theme that includes an option for a secondary navigation menu, which many of them do. Then you’ll be able to set a custom menu for that menu the say way you would the primary menu.

any suggestions of which companies offer that? I got ‘elegant themes’ templates and among the shortcodes I didn’t see that option.

It’s not appropriate for me to talk about paid themes here, but you can go to the directory of free themes and search:

    http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/

I did a search for “secondary menu” and many themes came up. Perhaps you’ll find something there to your liking!

If the theme supports a secondary menu, you’ll see that option in the “Menus” admin area when you activate the theme.
