Support » Fixing WordPress » Sub categories not nesting in parent category

  • I can create a parent folder and sub categories within it.

But when I define a post with one of these sub categories, the sub category pops of the parent and appears on the page as a regular category. It is no longer nested in the parent category.

This happens both when I create the sub category from the managing categories page or directly from the post I am editing.

    Thanks for any help

  • This is actually a feature in WordPress. All categories related to that post will appear at the top of the list. Do not fear, if you go back into “Categories” under the Posts menu, you will see it is still nested.

It is merely a (confusing) convenience so people with lots of categories do not have to scroll down to see what categories the post is in.

    Thanks Eric,
What I want to have in the blog page is a parent category. And when one clicks on that parent category the sub categories appear.
In other words, I would like the sub categories to be nested on the actual blog, not just in posts menu.
    Possible?
    Thanks again
