# Styling Gallery Captions

 * Earlier this year I asked about how to make image captions appear on hover (as
   in the Jetpack tiled gallery styling) in [this thread](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/styling-image-captions/),
   and you gave me a very helpful answer which I have used ever since.
 * I’m now trying to apply the same styling to WordPress’ native gallery block, 
   but using the same css code with `.wp-block-gallery` and/or `.blocks-gallery-
   item` doesn’t seem to be having the same effect.

   vs. [a post with block gallery](https://www.manek.org.uk/2021/11/27/jade-mayjean-at-the-mesken-hutton).

 * I am sorry but I am a little confused with your query. Are you trying to apply
   styling to the existing captions or do you want to add captions for other images
   as well? If so then, is this the gallery that you are referring to: [https://prnt.sc/22lnrc9](https://prnt.sc/22lnrc9)?
