# styles.css editor is not saving

 * Hi I have a big issue,
    I changed nothing on the core of wordpress only on the
   css of my child theme. If I am now trying to update the styles.css in design 
   editor wordpress is not saving but downloads the file theme-editor.php instead.
 * I can not figure out what the problem is.

 * Don’t use APPEARANCE->EDITOR, ever, for anything.
 * **To add CSS:** If your theme has a custom CSS option, use that to add the CSS
   shown above. If not, install the plugin [Simple Custom CSS](https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-custom-css/).
   Or, if you have Jetpack installed, enable its [Custom CSS](https://jetpack.com/support/custom-css/)
   module.
