Style category tag individually

Im doing a long stream of blog post on the landing page. But all the posts comes from different categories, and to make it easier to spot the different categories from on another, id like to style each categories the-category tag differently. Say for sports id like the the_category tgas to be displayed as blue, and for food id like it to be green.. is this possible?
