Support » Themes and Templates » stumped on changing navigation bar color on cover WP theme

  • Resolved Miz.Michele

    I’m trying to change colors of this theme. I want the navigation bar black.

    So – I inspected the element with firebug and I see it’s an image, I found it in the CSS
    background:#d5c6a6 url(images/menu.png);

    so, I opened the image in GIMP and changed the color to black and saved it. Then I replaced that file via FTP, went in to CSS above copied that and put it in my.css where we are supposed to make the changes in this theme and changed the color to #000000

    But it still shows the original color

    I am not a programmer and I just don’t understand.

    The only thing I can think of is that maybe I have to somehow link the image differently.

    Can anyone help me please?

  • When I inspect the element now it shows the mystyle entry for black but that color hasn’t changed and I did clear my caches

    We need a link to your website or link of your HTML and CSS code to help you.

    Hi Thanks. I’ve royally screwed it up now. The reason nothing was taking was because it was the permissions for my menu file. That much I figured out.

    Now the changes took and it’s a mess.

    For the headline, featured, popular and latest – I just want the bar red with white lettering – and the rest the same color that it was.

    I had erroneously changed the featured and list pngs, quickly figured out that was wrong so I Ftp’d back the original images, took it off my style and it won’t go away – I checked permissions and they are OK

    Help please

    Thanks so much

    Could it be that my server is taking a while to make the changes?
