stumped for the first time ever STOP THE BLOG!

Hi WPers….. my first post so go easy on me…. I’ve searched and found what MAY be the answer (but don’t want to admit it to myself cos it seems far too convoluted!)

I wish to use my WordPress account primarily as a static URL but with a homepage for posts etc…..

I see plenty of sites out there doing this but can’t for the life of me find the right terminology to search for HOW to do it!

I would like all my pages to look like that….. pages, without all that “Blog data” regarding who wrote it, where and when etc….

For an example please look at this page – http://www.liquidmocean.com – It is a perfect example of how a WordPress theme has been adapted (creating a template is it?) so that it appears as a normal website…..

I would like to do the same but I am stumped – for the first time ever!

I understand basic HTML (DreamWeaver user of years) and so everything I read here about PHP etc is foreign and makes no sense…..

Can someone either point me to the right tutorial or else give me some pointers, in words of one syllable and keeping everything in layman’s terms, pleeeeeaaaase?
