    I have searched other posts like this and they all said delete the .maintenance file but i cant find it public_html/wp-admin and i searched the whole directory and i cant find it

  • That’s because it’s not in /public_html/wp-admin/ it’s in /public_html/.

    If you cant’ find it there, check the settings on your FTP program and amke sure that hidden files are shown. A lot of programs are set to hide hidden files by default.

    The file will be in your root WordPress folder – not in the wp-admin folder. And do ensure that your FTP client is configured to show all files. Some software will hide any files prefixed by .

    Thanks for your help, for some reason it resolved by itself and a few minutes after i posted, it was back to normal again
