My website went to maintenance mode unexpectedly. WP and WP Maintenance Mode are both up-to-date. I have no cache plugin. Disabled all plugins and problem persists. Moved WP Maintenance Mode directory to a new folder and no longer see it in plugins list. Still shows maintenance mode. Connected to the website using a different IP and browser: still see the maintenance message.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I also re-installed maintenance mode. Activated it. Deactivated it. Tried to change the maintenance message. No changes in the maintenance page text. Also switched my theme to Twenty Fourteen. No change.

This problem was not related to the plugin.

I seem to have the same problem. Can you share what caused your issue, and how you fixed it?

Update: I had tried to manually update Jetpack from 5.6.1 to v. 5.7 and WP Maintenance Mode from 2.0.9 to 2.1.2. I got a “Site down for maintenance” message that took much longer than usual to resolve (several minutes vs. typically seconds). However, it eventually timed out, and I’m up and running again.
