    Hello there,

    I’m building a membership e-learning website for a client.

His company works a lot with school doing live events but, due to the virus situation, he wants to move everything online.

His goal is to put all the videos on a members-only area where students can create their yearly membership through a voucher code and watch the videos for one year. So you can’t create an account or access the course unless you have the code.

I’ve been watching countless videos and read many tutorials but I can’t get the voucher system to work.

The few times that something different happened, the registration page showed “do you have a coupon”, I enter the voucher but it doesn’t get recognised.

    Can someone help me, please?

    Thanks a lot,

    Daniele

  • Hi @nomaddaniele,

Can you send your LifterLMS System report using a service like Imgur, Pastebin, or Dropbox?

This doc explains how to use the voucher system in LifterLMS: https://lifterlms.com/docs/use-lifterlms-voucher-system/

If you also send screenshots or videos of your issue, that will be helpful as well.

    Thank you 🙂

    Hello @jnr4u2

    Thanks for your reply

I read that document multiple times but I still can’t get it to work.
My goal would be to only allow people who have the voucher code to be able to register and enrol in the course. So you cant access the material unless you have the voucher.

I’ve been experimenting with the example course you provide. Tried with and without membership but it still gives the possibility to pay for the membership or enter a coupon code. Also, I don’t know how to access or create a login area for the people to log in.

    Hi @nomaddaniele,

Thank you for sending the report over.

I do see that you have open registration enabled already.

Now, according to your screenshot, it seems you’re already signed in. Since you’re signed in, you’ll want to redeem the voucher from you dashboard as shown in this screenshot:
    https://prnt.sc/u0wx7y

Voucher can’t be used as a checkout option for a course, only the coupon can be used for that. A user simply needs to create an account and click the voucher link as shown in this screenshot:
    https://prnt.sc/u0wycb

You’ll need to create another page and use this shortcode in order to allow users register with a voucher and not paying for the course: https://lifterlms.com/docs/shortcodes/#lifterlms_registration

Let me know if this helps.

    Thank you 🙂

    Hello @jnr4u2,

Thanks a lot for your help! I highly appreciate it!

So I manage to add the registration form with the voucher on my website, however, I’m facing some other issues now. Hopefully, I can explain them clearly.

So, I created a page with Elementor to use as a personal area for the registered user. I selected it on the Lifter LMS account settings to be the user dashboard. However, after you register on the website, you get redirected there but nothing shows up. No courses, no logout, no my courses and so on. This is what appears:

This is the registration page https://postimg.cc/6y01bH3T
This is the personal dashboard page https://postimg.cc/fVqqDJYN

Even if you register through the course page, nothing changes

When you click on Enrol through the course page https://postimg.cc/XXxzQHXq
Dashboard after the registration has been completed https://postimg.cc/fVqqDJYN

Regarding the memberships. I created one membership with an access plan that lasts for one year and I linked it to the voucher and course.
So that the voucher will also give you access to the membership which is linked to the course.
However, I had to hide the access plan because it would show up and allow anyone to register. Even without a voucher.

My question is, when someone creates an account using the voucher. Because this one is linked to the membership, will their account last for only one year?

I hope I didn’t sound too confusing! You are really helping me immensely!!

    Hi @nomaddaniele,

It seems you don’t have the LifterLMS shortcode on that page. Here is the shortcode that’s meant to be on the page: https://lifterlms.com/docs/shortcodes/#lifterlms_my_account

My question is, when someone creates an account using the voucher. Because this one is linked to the membership, will their account last for only one year?

No, that simply means the person’s access to the membership/course will expire after 1 year. The account still stays till you decide to delete it.

Let me know if this helps.

    Thank you 🙂

    Hi @jnr4u2,

I cannot thank you enough for your help! Everything seems to be coming to life thanks to your help!

The dashboard now looks good and working! I’ve got a few more questions, if I may.

So, because I want to limit the access to the course to one year, I simply link it to a membership that has an access plan of one year right?
Then, both the membership and course will be linked to a voucher. Once this is used, the user is automatically enrolled to both and has access to the content for a year. After the year, his account remains but the access to the content expires, is this right?

When it comes to the course access plan and where it says “Access expiration”, do I have to put one year or leave lifetime? Because then I have set it to be only available to the one-year membership.

    https://postimg.cc/jDKXsLHk

Is it possible to customise what gets shown on the dashboard? Example, can I remove the links to my membership, achievements and so on?

Do the students get a notification when their membership is close to expiring? Because I didn’t get an email when registering and on the My Membership page it doesn’t show much info.

    https://postimg.cc/DWSbFTMM

Can I customise the look of the actual course page with Elementor?

Thank you so much again @jnr4u2. You are really my saviour!

Yes, this is correct. Also, you do not need to link to a membership to create an access plan but it’s also good since you’ve done it that way.

When it comes to the course access plan and where it says “Access expiration”, do I have to put one year or leave a lifetime? Because then I have set it to be only available to the one-year membership.

This is the time limit the course will expire after purchase. So 1 year is good if that’s what you want.

Is it possible to customise what gets shown on the dashboard? Example, can I remove the links to my membership, achievements and so on?

Yes, you can. We have a doc here: https://lifterlms.com/docs/can-remove-tabs-student-dashboard/ and https://lifterlms.com/docs/how-to-remove-the-lifterlms-sections-on-the-dashboard-page/

Do the students get a notification when their membership is close to expiring? Because I didn’t get an email when registering and on the My Membership page it doesn’t show much info.

No, they do not but they get a notification when payment is due.

Can I customize the look of the actual course page with Elementor?

Yes, you can. We have a video that shows you how to here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mni2eVCDEf4

Let me know if this helps.

    Hello @jnr4u2,

Thank you again for your answer! You are a real angel and you are helping me immensely.

So, I managed to edit the dashboard and now I’m working on editing the course look and that’s great!

Regarding the membership/course access situation. I created a test course linked to a test membership. Both expiring today 21/08/2020. I then created a voucher linked to both and, yesterday, I created a test account using it.

However, today I logged in and I could still access the course and its content.
I thought the access would have expired today? Or should I try again tomorrow 22/08/2020?

A question related to the email notifications.

To change from which email to send all the different notifications, do I have to change the instructor’s details?
Because now they are sent through the email shown in the picture, which is the one that appears in the instructor’s details. However, I’d like to change it to the @domain.com one.

Also, they are all marked as SPAM by Gmail and get received fairly late. Is it because it’s sent from a Gmail account?

    Thank you so so much!

Yeah, try again on the 22nd to be sure.

To change the sender email you’ll need to go to LifterLMS >> Settings >> Engagements and change the sending email there. See screenshot: https://prnt.sc/u3exr2

However, all notifications and all will be sent from the same email(which is the email you set as the senders’ email)

Also, they are all marked as SPAM by Gmail and get received fairly late. Is it because it’s sent from a Gmail account?

It’s likely to be because it’s sent from a Gmail account. We have a guide here to help you with this issue: https://lifterlms.com/docs/a-guide-to-understanding-and-fixing-email-issues-in-lifterlms/#spam

    Thank you for your reply!

Unfortunately, I can still access the content without any problems. Did I make some settings mistakes?

    Thanks a lot

    Hi @nomaddaniele,

Are you sure you have set up access plans for the membership/course?

If you can, please send a screenshot of your access plans for the course or membership.

Let me know as soon as you can.

    Thank you 🙂

    Hi @nomaddaniele,

Thank you for confirming the access plan settings.

Are you sure you’re not checking with your admin account? Did you create a student account to help test this?

As an admin, the rules you set won’t apply to you. The rules would only be applied to the students taking the course.

Kindly confirm you are checking with a student account and let me know how it goes.

    Thank you 🙂

    Hi @jnr4u2

    Thank you for your reply.

I’m not using an admin account. I created a student account using a voucher code linked to both the membership and the course and then I log in with it using a private page.
