Support » Fixing WordPress » Structuring a Custom Post Type and its Taxonomies

  • Hey guys, I’m just trying to make sure I’m structuring my Custom Post Type correctly. I’m just a little confused, and want to make sure this is the easiest/most efficient way to handle this situation-

I want to create a page called Tutorials, with a “Home Page” for the tutorials, where I’m posting new and most read Tutorials from all the Subjects that I’m creating tutorials for.

Would I want to make the Custom Post Type-Tutorials, the Taxonomies -the Subjects (photography, design, etc), so that when I post a Tutorial I choose its subject?

Or, would I want to create a custom post type for each subject and then create a main page showing recent and top tutorials from each?

Also, if I use the same Categories from regular Posts, will they still stay in different sections? I.E- If I post a Tutorial under a category that is shared by regular posts, will it then show up under my regular post archive and my tutorial archive?

    Thanks in advance,

    Peter John Joseph
