  • You do not need to do anything – the SCA rule will automatically be enabled from the 14th September (well that is my understanding).

The topic you linked to confuses things a little as it refers to Checkout which is a different way of using Stripes services. Most plugins (including this one) use the Stripe API to connect and deal with transactions.

What the SCA changes mean is that authentication protocols such as 3DSecure and Verified by Visa will be enabled for cards/payment-methods that support/require them. That in itself will reduce the potential for chargebacks. The link you posted talks about a new service that effectively brands a Stripe insurance service based on much the same thing except it’s through Stripes “Checkout” service/system.

That said, I would definitely recommend you spend some time getting familiar with Radar and how to use it as it’s a very useful and powerful tool that can help catch fraud as well as false positives. Well worth the effort.

    Hi @fluiddesk

As long as you are running the most recent version of the WooCommerce plugin and the Stripe extension, your site will be SCA ready.

You can additionally enable Radar rules on your dashboard, but that isn’t needed to be SCA ready.

As @websnail mentioned, it can be confusing to understand about Checkout and their Chargeback prevention. Checkout isn’t part of the Stripe extension currently. We’re tracking that enhancement on this GitHub issue.

If you have queries, please start your own thread with specific queries about your scenario or reach out to us via again giving us specific details about your scenario – we’d love to help.
