Support » Plugin: WordPress Membership Plugin - Restrict Content » Stripe Co. says you must provide Statement descriptor

  • I just talked again with Stripe Payments they tried to contact you Ithemes
    (405) 285-9346 1720 S Kelly Ave, Edmond OK 73013 and said you are owned by liquidweb.com
    but they were unable to contact you.

    Unfortunately you do not answer support requests. Statement descriptor must be allowed to change. Woocommerce and many other plugins who use Stripe allow the customer to change statement descriptor in their settings, for example maybe you have a company called “National Products” a website called “AutoZone” and you want the descriptor to be “AutoZone” on the AutoZone website so people are not confused and make chargebacks.

    This is a big serious issue. It is costing us a lot of chargebacks and money.

    I recommend you contact Stripe soon and also fix your plugin to allow this, or allow us to write a filter so we can change it and document it for everyone.

    I hope this does not take 10 weeks for you to address

    Hi there!

    “Unfortunately you do not answer support requests.”

    Well, one of our support folks has been out for about a month, and we haven’t had a developer on staff for awhile so support hasn’t been as responsive as we’d like. But I know for a fact that we’ve already had more than one conversation with you about this, so it’s not completely fair to say that we don’t answer support requests =]

    While we are not required by law to offer a payment descriptor, I can definitely see how this would be a good feature to add, especially for folks who have one stripe account with multiple websites.

    We recently hired a new developer, and he’s working very hard to get himself up to speed with the code base. Our old developer even agreed to help onboard him, which is fantastic news for us and our customers.

    We’re currently working on his first release which will include a simple bug fix, and then we’ll start working on other bugs and adding new features.

    I’ll get with the developer and talk about how difficult this feature would be to implement and then get it on the schedule.

    I don’t have an ETA of course but I can promise that this will be added to the roadmap. I also have a stripe account that is used by multiple websites so I can see how this would be very useful.

    Thank you for your patience, don’t give up on us just yet!

    I just spoke with stripe again they confirm you should provide this, can you please let me test a beta version ?

    Just because stripe says we have to do something doesn’t make it true 🙂

    As soon as this feature exists you’ll be the first to know.

    Click on the “Ideas” tab and you can see I’ve already submitted your idea.

    Feel free to upvote it, as well as add any more details you’d like to provide to the idea.

    	$descriptor = 'VoiceofChangeNetwork';
    	if(isset($intent_args['payment_intent_data']))
    	{
    		$intent_args['payment_intent_data']['statement_descriptor'] = $descriptor;
    	}
    	else
    	{
    		$statement_descriptor = [];
    		$statement_descriptor['statement_descriptor'] = $descriptor;
    		$intent_args['payment_intent_data'] = $statement_descriptor;
    	}

    	return $intent_args;
    }
    add_filter( 'rcp_stripe_create_subscription_args', 'rt_rcp_stripe_add_stripe_intent_data', 10, 2 );

    we pushed a release to the pro version today which includes the Stripe Descriptor.

    There’s a few things we need to button up before we can push it to the free version, and we’re hoping to have that out next week, but possibly early the following week depending on how things go.

    I appreciate your patience, the good news is we’ve tested it and it works in the Pro version so once we’re able to release the free version you should be all good to go!

    I’ll update you here of course once it’s ready.

    James any updates, it’s another week of more losses, and not even a temporary fix for me, I know you are not customer service but it does not help at the moment. I think if not fixed in the next days I have to move to another solution. everyone says I am crazy waiting losing money with disputes

    Hi @obertscloud

    We’re still working on getting this feature into the free version.

    If you’re losing thousands of dollars in chargebacks, it would probably be a good idea to just upgrade to Pro for only $99.

    Otherwise we’re hoping to have this feature in the free version within the next week or so.
